Edgar Degas was a French artist of the 19th century and is considered one of the most important painters of Impressionism, although he himself rejected this label. He focused on a few central themes, particularly ballet dancers, horse races, and Parisian everyday scenes. Throughout his career, he experimented with various techniques, developing a unique and often sketch-like visual language.
