Hasui Kawase was a Japanese woodblock print artist and painter who is considered one of the leading representatives of the Shin-Hanga movement. Kawase's works often arose from his travels through Japan, where he made sketches that were later turned into prints. His subjects range from snow-covered villages and blossoming cherry trees to famous temples, bridges and cityscapes. Works such as Snowfall in Shiba Park and Evening Rain in Atami are among his best known prints.
