Hans Frederik Gude was one of the most important Norwegian landscape painters of the 19th century and a key representative of the Düsseldorf School of Painting. His works include dramatic depictions of fjords, mountains and forests of the north. As an excellent landscape and marine painter, he continues to influence numerous artists to this day.
