Kazumasa Ogawa was a Japanese photographer and publisher who played a central role in the development and popularization of photography in Japan. After studying photography and printmaking techniques in the United States, Ogawa opened a photography studio and print shop in Tokyo and quickly became a leading figure in the Japanese photography and publishing world. He was particularly known for his portraits and landscapes, and his works document traditional ways of life, craft arts, architecture, and Japanese flora. Among his best known publications is Japanese Chrysanthemums , a book showcasing the beauty of iconic flowers.
