Ein Kunstwerk des österreichischen Malers Maximilian Suppantschitsch. Geboren in Wien, studierte er von 1884 bis 1891 an der Wiener Akademie der bildenden Künste bei Eduard Peithner von Lichtenfels, der ihm die Faszination der niederösterreichischen Landschaft näherbrachte. Diese Inspiration führte ihn 1886 zu einer Studienreise durch die Wachau, eine Region, die ihn so stark fesselte, dass er später als „Chronist“ dieser einzigartigen Landschaft und teilweise auch als der "Wachau-Maler" bezeichnet wurde. Für seine detailgetreuen und stimmungsvollen Darstellungen der Wachau, die für ihn nicht nur Heimat, sondern auch eine unerschöpfliche Quelle der künstlerischen Inspiration darstellte, erlangte er besondere Anerkennung und verkaufte viele seiner Werke an das Kaiserhaus sowie an österreichische Galerien.
